It's a treatment we offer here at Homesteads Dental Care. Dental plaque, what has been re-termed “oral biofilm”, has long been connected with periodontal problems and to a lesser extent caries related to the bacteria contained within it. We use GBT to safely remove this invisible layer on your teeth to ensure good oral health.
By the time you're in pain, your teeth and gums may have suffered damage. This could result in more work to be done; at worst, you may lose teeth you could have kept.
Sensitive teeth can have many causes: gum disease, teeth grinding, cracked teeth, even brushing too hard, too long or with too stiff a toothbrush. If your problems are severe and/or persist, we may be able to help, using desensitising gel and reinforcing your teeth with protective tooth-coloured restoration.
At first, it's up to you to brush their teeth regularly – your dental hygienist will show you how, and also advise you on the right toothbrushes and toothpastes to use. When they start brushing their own teeth, make sure you oversee them at first, to make sure they're doing it properly.
What is Guided Biofilm Therapy and How Can it Help You?
PRESERVE HEALTHY TEETH
GBT minimises the use of power and hand instrumentation. AIRFLOW® is minimally invasive on all types of dental tissues: dentine, cementum, enamel and gums. Minimal abrasion for maximum comfort: GBT enables the patient to enjoy natural teeth and implants for much longer.
PREVENT Tooth Decay
Biofilm is not always visible to the naked eye. Disclosing biofilm helps to remove all biofilm. GBT prevents caries and gum disease in children and adults. No biofilm = No caries.
The Importance of Hygiene Visits
The best way to keep your gums, teeth, and mouth healthy is by regularly brushing and flossing your teeth and booking preventative dental care check-ups and professional dental cleanings twice a year.
Professional dental cleanings by a hygienist can help to prevent and detect tooth decay and gum disease, as well as make your teeth look cleaner and brighter.
