What is Guided Biofilm Therapy?

Guided Biofilm Therapy is a minimally invasive way to treat gum disease. The treatment is given in the least invasive way, with the highest level of comfort, safety and efficiency. Dental plaque biofilm is the main disease causing  factor for tooth decay, periodontal and peri-implant infections. Maintaining a healthy mouth is important to us at Homesteads Dental.

What to expect from treatment?

In house or Virtual consult may be needed prior to treatment to assess clinical suitability and outline a periodontal treatment plan.

After a gum assessment your hygienist will us a disclosing solution to highlight plaque biofilm in your mouth.  Extensive oral hygiene advice will be tailored to your individual needs and with gentle instructions will help to coach you with your homeware regime.  

Airflow will gently remove the plaque in your mouth using warm water. Perioflow may be used at maintenance visits for removing biofilm from the root of the tooth.  Calculus deposits are removed using the latest Piezon PS technology with the lightest touch to provide a virtually pain free experience with warm water. A thorough check will be carried our and your recall and treatment needs discussed.
